This rough & ready cafe with old sofas, scuffed wood floors & mismatched chairs gained popularity as a cheap & cheerful refuge for students at St John’s College round the corner. That it now attracts their lecturers & parents too suggests that there is some smart cooking going on here. A meal of pea & mint risotto followed by slow-roast belly pork was spot-on & excellent value. First-rate service & an easy-going vibe simply add to its appeal.
