Square Meal review of Earle:
This restaurant & bar is a second venture for rising TV-chef Simon Rimmer (who also owns the acclaimed vegetarian restaurant Greens in Manchester). Earle is certainly the right joint for trendy urbanites from Hale – the decor is metropolitan romantic, with rubber walls & floors, chandeliers, a spiral staircase up to the loos & a small central bar. The menu features hearty modern British dishes such as white bean & celery soup, 28-day-aged Vale of Bowland fillet steak with fat-cut chips, & a number of salads for those after the lighter touch. The set-price soup, sandwich & chips lunch deal is good value, & puddings such as lemon & poppy-seed cheesecake with raspberry sauce are pretty good, too.
