Square Meal review of Alma Inn at Cottonstones:

As you approach it, the Alma Inn looks like any other stone-built, slate-roofed Yorkshire boozer. In the flag-floored bar there’s an open fire, bare brick walls & mismatched, slightly scruffy furniture complete with locals standing around drinking pints. Ignore the safe pub-grub laminated menu, for there’s surprise here – a proper wood-burning pizza oven spitting out a choice of 20 cracking pizzas ranging in price from £4.25 for the basic garlic, olive oil & tomato sauce to £8.75 for the Alma Special, topped with a bit of everythiny. Other Italian dishes are very good too: gamberoni all’aglio e burro (juicy prawns fried in garlic butter), & plates of homemade spaghetti with meatballs – all washed down with a glass of properly chilled white wine from a decent list. As you gaze out of the window onto the distant moors, you’re struck by the delicious incongruity of it.
