This seafood restaurant on an elevated road above Portree does indeed have a splendid harbour view – you can practically see your meal arriving in crates off the boats below. Chowder is a popular starter, as are Skye oysters, then there’s seafood platters heaped high with lobster, or langoustines fresh from the creel served shell on with lemon & herb mayonnaise, monkfish with pickled ginger & honey, while meat & vegetarian dishes are offered for those not in the mood for fish. Finish with cranachan – a tempting Highland combination of oatmeal, whisky, cream & raspberries. On cool evenings, a peat fire burns in the hearth & the place is a draw at any time for its Celtic music, informality & chatty service. Note that the town is heaving in summer, so book well ahead.
