Square Meal Review of Bordeaux Quay Brasserie ?

Barney Haughton’s imaginative warehouse conversion on Bristol’s waterfront is a temple to environmental ideals, with recycled materials, solar panels & low-energy bulbs all serving to minimise its environmental footprint. It’s a tribute to his ingenuity that you would never know: the noisy, friendly ground-floor brasserie easily holds its own with the competition in terms of style, featuring cool, clean lines & chunky furniture. Upstairs, the restaurant offers more formal dining (see separate review) but the brasserie is the place to come if you fancy robust comfort food such as pork rillettes with onion marmalade, beef burger in ciabatta with chips, or spaghetti with butternut squash & pesto. Alternatively you can sit at the full-length bar for impressive organic beers & wines & tapas-style nibbles.
