Coolly urbane & modern, the physical appearance of this popular local restaurant is in keeping with the kitchen’s sophisticated repertoire. Former Hambleton Hall chefs James Andrews & Scott Eggleton have forged links with local butchers, farmers & fishermen & cook their food in the simplest possible way. The lunchtime focus is on light options, such as mussel, saffron & morteau sausage risotto, or roast breast of chicken with Madeira cream sauce. In the evening, sweet, nutty hand-dived scallops are teamed with Jerusalem artichokes, while mains could include loin of hare Wellington with red cabbage & prune & Armagnac sauce, followed up by a stupendous dessert of passion fruit crumble souffle & passion fruit sorbet. Rebecca Christie-Miller & Barbara Larsen complete the picture front of house, ensuring the welcome is warm & the atmosphere soothing.
