Square Meal review of Grayson:

Grayson's unassuming exterior belies an engaging, even slightly bohemian atmosphere inside (think ethnic artefacts, comfy sofas, heavily beamed ceilings). Food is comfortably modern European: it won’t sweep you off your feet but is mostly well cooked & presented. Simple starters include pan-seared scallops with a crispy pancetta & cauliflower puree, while mains such as tender roast loin of venison served with black pudding & redcurrant sauce are similarly straightforward. Occasionally, the quality of cooking can be below par (our bread & butter pudding was stodgy) but portions are generous, the service smiley, & the wine list a reasonably priced selection of New & Old World options. A smart, sheltered patio is perfect for summer alfresco & the Monday-Thursday early bird (£15.95 for three courses from 6.30-8.30pm) is popular, so be sure to book ahead.
