Unstuffy & relaxed, the Rectory Hotel is a breath of fresh air in this part of the Cotswolds. Classic period features blend with the contemporary & quirky, & the spacious dining room serves first-rate modern British & European food using fresh local produce. Ravioli of Cornish lobster, wilted spinach & lobster dressing makes a good starter, & tasty mains include perfectly pink chump of Welsh lamb served alongside fondant potato, wild mushrooms & rosemary jus, or succulent loin of Gloucestershire pork with crackling, caramelised black pudding, apple & thyme compote. An exceptional cheese plate is a fine alternative to desserts such as baked white chocolate cheesecake with a raspberry sorbet & shot of raspberry milkshake, while the eclectic winelist features a broad range & prices to suit all pockets. Service is helpful, polite & efficient.
