At The Grove, a strikingly handsome hotel on the outskirts of London, the focus is usually on fine-dining eaterie Colette's. But the hotel's second restaurant, The Glasshouse, is equally diverting with its upmarket & imaginative buffet of well-made dishes from an open kitchen featuring a rotisserie, char-grill, wok & wood-fired oven. The hot section includes rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding & salt-baked onions, duck breast with cherries, or even pan-fried sea bass & turmeric potatoes. There's also a huge range of tapas, antipasti & sushi, & desserts are a cornucopia of Anglo-French delights. Presentation is a triumph. The split-level room boasts an outside terrace for summer alfresco & prices vary between weekdays & weekends (dinner is £30 for three courses Sun-Thurs, £39.50 for three courses Fri-Sat).
