Square Meal Review of White Swan ?

The White Swan is a striking open-plan space, although it still has the heart of a true pub where beer drinkers are made most welcome. A selection of real ales are on offer for those who simply want a pint, while the food side of things delivers sharing plates of Italian antipasti or Greek mezze alongside wood-fired pizzas, pasta & spit-roast chicken, burgers or ginger beer-braised belly pork with roasted sweet potato & spiced jus. The White Swan succeeds because it manages to please everyone, although the fact that the kitchen can turn out decent dishes with ease & confidence obviously plays a big part in the venue's ongoing popularity.

    I went for the Sunday lunch on 16th May Sunday. The Receptionist/Manageress wasn't friendly and never smile with the customers. I ordered Linguini Pasta + Chorizo + King Prawns + Crab + Chilli + Tomato, in my opinion it was a disaster because it was far too sweet just like a dessert and it wasn't enjoyable at all. The whole experience was inexcusable and I will never come back again.

    If you are considering booking the White Swan for their special Christmas day menu as we were, you may be interested to know that the price per head is £60.00 which is very reasonable indeed – however, there is no reduction for children, regardless of their age (my son is 4), as I quote 'they will be occupying a seat which could otherwise have been given to a full price adult'. Well Merry Christmas to the Management at the White Swan – we will take our booking for 7 elsewhere and good luck filling those seats with that short sighted attitude.
