Square Meal Review of Oran Mor ?

Formerly Kelvinside Parish Church, Oran Mór (literally ‘big song’) opened for business in its current guise in 2004, and has gone on to build a solid reputation as a cultural/arts centre – although it also has a two restaurants and a notable whisky bar with a traditional ‘island’ counter, wooden fixtures, bare stone and various artworks around the walls. The food is good enough to attract allcomers, while there are a couple of real ales for the beer monsters – sold under the Oran Mór name but made by the Kelburn and Houston breweries (both near Glasgow). As for the celebrated whisky list, it has well over 200 choices including premium names such as a fine 30-year-old Highland Park from Orkney and a gorgeous 25-year-old Talisker from Skye. There’s a late-night bar for cocktails and fizz on Friday and Saturdays (11pm-3am).
