Blagdon Inn

I have visited the Blagdon Inn, Blagdon Hill, numerous times and enjoyed every meal. The couple who run this restaurant have strived over the last two years to give customers home cooked quality food, the meat is bought from a local butcher, fish caught locally and fresh vegetables come from a local farmer. Food here is not obtained vacuumed packed or frozen then zapped in a microvwave and suggest the two previous reviewers stick with their local Weatherspoon pub as their taste buds are obviously more suited to plastic. They should be ashamed of their comments which could affect the livelihood of two people striving to run a business in this economic climate. Customers here are asked more than once if everything is ok, even the chef will leave the kitchen to speak to you if theres a problem. Too many people today are habitual complainers and scammers trying to get something for free and with small independent pubs, restaurants and businesses closing daily in this country everyone should be supporting them.
Go and try this lovely restaurant in a lovely part of Devon where you will enjoy home cooked food, a varied menu and at a reasonable price, i know you will not be disappointed.

Never again; the lamb shank was returned as being tasteless overcooked and hard; the locally made Faggots in a rich onion gravy were boring and the gravy was very disappointing. The other four meals, cod in beer batter and a sirloin steak were also very disappointing. A place best avoided as even the beer was sour! Five hungry people, left much of their meal and the premises 20th March 2010; never again! Please avoid this so called inn!

After arriving to a lifeless atmosphere we made the wrong decision of staying for Sunday lunch. It was appalling. Beef like leather, mushy watery veg all in one bowl together and dreadful gravy which from the way it was burnt to the edges of the plate suggest that the meals had been reheated or kept hot.

When this was bought to the attention of the gentleman whom I assume was the Landlord I was met with a complete lack of sympathy and a bill. Apparently nobody else had complained. Maybe that is because the place was virtually empty and on this performance I am hardly suprised! Disgraceful.

Dont do it. Dissapointment awaits.
