The main selling point of this diminutive but bustling town-centre deli is freshness – from the clean, simple decor to the uncomplicated dishes prepared with quality ingredients, much of it from the West Country. Typical of these is the carpaccio of Devon red beef, confit duck leg with rosti, or the clam, crab, rocket & clotted cream tart. This is not the place for a quiet meal, though, as just a handful of tables are crammed into the small shop & it’s usually packed. But if you can’t get a table, there’s always something appealing at the counter to take home for dinner.
