Square Meal review of Plush:
A shiny new makeover for the upstairs bar and subterranean restaurant, a fusion menu and a late night licence, are the key ingredients for the latest venture of Martin Spalding, a stalwart of the Leeds restaurant scene (see Leodis). Set in the heart of the business district, Plush is strong on fish; the menu ranges from sea bass with noodles to Carlingford oysters and on to Beluga caviar (£70). There is a nod to vegetarians with risotto of wild mushrooms and black truffle dressing, or pasta with artichoke but New Zealand chef Gordon Mann really goes for flesh: the meat list takes in carpaccio of fillet steak with foie gras, duck breast with chocolate and cherry glaze, calves liver. And if that's too tame you can bag zebra steak with a wasabi crust, or kangaroo and ostrich shashlik.
