Square Meal review of Hive on the Quay:
Occupying an old weigh house, there is much to admire in this buzzy & informal all-day teashop: they make their own bread & cakes, use almost entirely organic produce, eggs & cheeses, & local fish is a strong point. Don’t miss the grilled local mackerel, cracked crab, or lobster & salad, but pancakes filled with stir-fry vegetables, & cawl (traditional Welsh beef & vegetable broth, served with wholemeal bread & local cheese) are favourites too. The Holgate family once kept bees here, & though that side of the business is long gone, they still produce an incomparable honey ice cream – the best, arguably, in the entire principality. Open for dinner in August only. Seasonal opening.
