Stravaigin 2

Stravaigin 2 repeats the formula made successful by its sibling Stravaigin, but in simpler surrounds & with prices pitched to suit the local university population. It's spread over two floors, with a menu that opens in Scotland (haggis with neeps & tatties) but then ranges far & wide, taking in Vietnamese pork belly & Persian chicken breast, as well as steamed west coast mussels with sweet chilli, coriander & oyster sauce, & spaghetti with clams & langoustine. Open every day, this is a great venue for families, who appreciate the relaxed & friendly atmosphere, the high chairs, & scaled down versions of fish & chips (or whatever catches the eye on the main menu), alongside garlic bread & bowls of chips. At weekends, breakfast is served until 5pm. For owner Colin Clydesdale, restaurants are in the blood – he is the son of Ubiquitous Chip owner Ronnie Clydesdale. Highly recommended.
