Bovey Castle’s location in the heart of Dartmoor National Park is pretty hard to beat & its Edwardian Dining Room, with chinoiserie-style, hand-painted wall coverings, is rather impressive, too. Expect a modern British menu making use of impeccably sourced ingredients such as locally shot game, West Country lamb, & fish from Brixham day boats. Shellfish ragout with saffron cream & Gressingham duck breast with swede mash, bacon & balsamic dressing are typical choices. Alternatively, the informal Castle Bistro offers an all-day menu featuring a mini tapas-style snack plate, cheese ploughmans, & confit duck, chorizo & rocket pizza, as well as more substantial dishes such as venison stew.
