Two stories of raftered and low-beamed glamour, with a cosy fireplace warmed bar, wood floors, leather armchairs and low lamplight, the Saxon Mill suits dressing up or dressing down. And its parade of little dishes, wood-fired pizzas and grills, are priced to suit an everyday budget. It’s an eclectic mix from the distinctly home-grown spit-roast gammon with cider sauce, and calf’s liver, bacon and onion jam to the European-inspired grilled gambas, and chicken and chorizo with pasta. A great lunch spot in summer when the decking beside the river really comes into its own.
