Offering an unusual choice of cuisine (East African Indian) in an equally refreshing location (an old railway station waiting room), Kissii presents a rather decadent dining experience. With blood red walls, fake fur & animal statues strategically placed around the impressive building it may come as little surprise that the food is equally adventurous. Starters include samaki pakora – goujons of white fish fried in a chickpea batter with a hint of coriander – while the mains selection covers seafood (try the jynga masala – a hot, rich dish with succulent king prawns), poultry & plenty of vegetarian options. With a name taken from a tiny hilltop village near Western Kenya’s Lake Victoria, Kissii certainly offers a tasty trip into culinary regions which remain largely unchartered.
