Square Meal review of Liaison:
The mood is most definitely upmarket at Liaison, a recent arrival which nevertheless boasts a decent pedigree in the region. The original Liaison was in Stratford-upon-Avon, the owners then had a spell in Ireland before deciding to return to their old stamping ground & their newest place is all modern art & formal fine dining style. They’re big on cheffy presentation here & it may seem occasionally to border on the precocious (the menu offers fresh salmon “served in a light pastry cloud” & a dessert includes a “galaxy of berries”). But it’s undeniably good quality & some of those labour-intensive creations – such as a black pudding & rabbit boudin with a white pudding risotto – really sing.
