Set in seven acres of quintessential English gardens just five miles from the urban expanses of Swindon, this former vicarage offers genteel hospitality & a menu of eclectic food. All sorts of influences show up among the starters – a tartlet of sea bream with pickled sushi ginger, crème fraîche & coriander could sit alongside Mediterranean fish soup, while mains might take in anything from steamed halibut suprême with crab & saffron sauce & a crab rösti to roast loin of Sandridge Farm pork & braised belly with crispy bacon & pease pudding. Stem ginger cheesecake with blueberry ice cream makes a great finish, & it’s worth noting that the wine list affords plenty of good matches.
