This former vicarage set in quintessential English gardens delivers an eclectic menu. All sorts of influences show up among starters – crab & sweet potato cocktail with coriander, lime & ginger, or crispy sea bass with Moroccan couscous – while main courses take in rack of wild red deer with treacle, wine & juniper & rib-eye with Stilton mousse & port wine sauce. Iced chestnut parfait with vanilla wafers & orange salad makes a great finish & it’s worth noting that the wine list affords plenty of good matches.
