With hand-blown glass sculptures and a separate oyster bar for the shellfish connoisseur there’s more than a hint of sophistication at this Durham favourite. The original menu boasts curiosities like a tomato, gin & orange soup baked with a welsh rarebit souffle, as well as rich assemblies like saddle of venison with roasted figs & chestnuts. You may even be roped into a little discreet dancing.
