Richard & Carole de Cesare have taken over the reins at this much-loved & long-standing Bath bistro close to the river, but little else has changed. Updated French classics still draw the crowds, who drop by for the likes of snails cooked in chilli & garlic butter or steak tartare with mixed marinated peppers & truffled egg. After that, there could be mains of confit duck leg & breast with seared livers, mash & cherry jus, a trio of lamb with mint couscous or rib of beef for two, with desserts such as crème brûlée bringing things to a close in true Gallic style. There's also a great-value, two-course set lunch menu for £8.95.
