A lot of the Mailbox eateries opening are chains, albeit bijou, classy ones. This is a firm favourite with families: a big, warm, friendly place taking up a long stretch of a level above Bar Epernay. It’s based on the cooking of southwestern USA, & yes, it’s a bit Tex-Mex, but with real quality; spicing is well handled and the flavours are satisfyingly big. The lunchtime wraps and quesadillas are popular, while sweetcorn and black bean enchilada, grande chilli con queso and southwestern steak and fries are evening treats. There’s even a canalside outlook for that big outdoorsy feel and further branches can be found in Reading, Nottingham, Brighton, Bluewater, & Portsmouth.
