Square Meal Review of Pier 64 ?

A new venture from the team behind the now-defunct Le Gallois in Cardiff, Pier 64 is a swish but informal restaurant, bar & steakhouse at the heart of Penarth Marina. A striking building set on stilts by the water’s edge, it has a sunny terrace for alfresco dining with watery views. Food kicks off with everything from poached eggs with a toasted muffin & hollandaise sauce through to a Champagne breakfast with smoked salmon & dill crème fraîche. Later on, the bar menu offers classics such as moules marinière, oysters or croque monsieur, while dinner continues the theme with steaks & straightforward dishes such as roasted bone marrow with caramelised onions, salade niçoise or wild sea bass with shallot mash & Noilly Prat cream. As for dessert, think comforting crème brûlée & Eton mess.
