Charmingly tucked away in a secluded village, this family-run 17th century thatched cottage offers modern British food with a hint of French. Owners Wendy & John Bona manage the bright oak-beamed front-of-house, where creamy walls are hung with modern art works. Sons Jason & Andrew work their self-taught kitchen skills on dishes such as braised rabbit with spices, parsley & hand-cut pasta, Gloucester Old Spot pork with sage crust, bacon & onion rosti & cep sauce, with a rhubarb creme brulee to finish up with. Semi-formal dining mixes with rustic chic to successful effect, aided by reasonable prices & a no smoking policy.
