Hailed as one of Edinburgh’s best for food & atmosphere, Martin Wishart's restaurant has been a roaring success since it opened in 1999, winning Edinburgh its first Michelin star in 2001. Wishart’s culinary elegance revolves around prime Scottish materials, restrained flavours & delicate sauces. From the exquisite amuse-bouches (including a subtle, frothy pumpkin puree with vegetable shavings) through to stunning desserts, such as almond & pear tart with armagnac ice-cream, every mouthful is impressive. Highlights for us included an intense Jerusalem artichoke soup & a dainty bouillabaisse. Cheap? No. Value for money? Yes. And the whole experience is bolstered by very professional service.
