The commitment to producing innovative cooking at reasonable prices has proved a winning formula at this popular Aldeburgh restaurant. Extremely handy for productions at Snape Maltings, the short, calendar-correct menu continues to place the emphasis on quality local produce – local game makes a seasonal appearance & the repertoire is particularly strong on fish – & the pricing structure is a straightforward £4.50 for starters, £9.50 for mains & £3.50 for desserts. Look out for gravadlax with Thai-style dressing, potato & wild garlic soup, then grey mullet or confit duck, with ice chocolate parfait with clear orange sauce to finish. Wines from Suffolk suppliers, Adnams, are also excellent.
