Both the staff & the food at Jane and Michael Navet’s long-time Chichester fixture have an unmistakably French accent. Sit in the flower-festooned restaurant or choose a table in the enclosed patio and garden when the sun shines & enjoy the Gallic menu, from charcuterie, via soupe de poisson to chateaubriand with classic sauces. The odd bit of Brit produce also gets a look-in – warm fresh Selsey crab tart or Scottish scallops and smoked salmon – as well as more up to date ideas such as seared fillet of sea bass served with fresh crusted herb potatoes and a warm chorizo and pepper vinaigrette, and breast of duck with poached figs, and a ginger and honey jus. Sunday lunch has quite a reputation and children are positively encouraged.
