With a prime riverside location and excellent views of the castle, this house was built by William the Conqueror over 900 years ago. Today, its first floor dining room serves a classic menu - perhaps including lamb noisette with baby figs or roast goose magret with Calvados sauce -in suitably traditional environs. Leave room for the strawberries and Cointreau crepes, ceremoniously flamed at the table. Outdoor tables are precious in summer.
