Everything gets recycled these days including this charming former headquarters of the Tyne River Police. Its original brick exterior has been preserved & gives no hint of the sunny Mediterranean dining room that now lies within. Very popular with the Quayside set, it’s a perfect spot to watch the world float by while tucking into some decent modern Italian grub. The house speciality is a delicious foil-wrapped sea bass in lime sauce & other highlights from the vast menu include fresh monkfish tails with Chilean mussels & loin of lamb marinated in port. A riverside terrace offers refuge on balmy summer evenings & there’s a nightclub next door for that after-dinner boogie.
