With Newcastle racecourse on the doorstep you might fancy a flutter on the 2.30pm after lunch, or perhaps a contemplative walk round the 12 1/2 acres of wooded parkland. Not a bad idea, considering that this top class kitchen specialises in rich traditional cooking. Starters including roulade of foie gras – which comes scented with truffle & served with warm brioche - may be followed by roast loin of venison with roast apricots & pears, or grilled supreme of turbot. Sumptuous desserts include a warm ricotta & citrus cobbler.
