Hotel du Vin Bristol

A former sugar warehouse is the venue for the Bristol version of this admirable mini-chain of hotels with bistros. The emphasis throughout is on providing a relaxed setting in which to enjoy good food and excellent wines and the restaurant succeeds with its mix of stripped floorboards, mustard walls and spacious tables. Dishes are admirably simple and based on a sound foundation of good quality ingredients with Mediterranean undertones. Expect the likes of Searrano ham, figs and Manchego, seared pigeon with roasted pine nuts or turbot with cauliflower chorizo to be competently handled. The wine list is tremendous and good advice is to take advantage of the knowledgeable and enthusiastic advice on offer.
