Square Meal review of Le Rivage:
A stone’s throw from the Tyne, Le Rivage plays its waterside card in a decor where frosted glass separates the tables while starfish & waves adorn a rich blue carpet. The menu, by comparison, is surprisingly strong on meat, offering the likes of smoked duck, chicken & avocado salad ahead of roast rack of lamb on spring onion mash with redcurrant & Madeira sauce. Seafood alternatives include some excellent Thai-inspired mussels, while desserts are traditional – try the outstanding sticky toffee pud or opt for the excellent cheese board, which carries plenty of British varieties.
