Medio may be a freshman to the Oxford dining scene, but this spanking-new restaurant, part of a £8 million investment project at the Oxford Hotel, is no culinary shrinking violet. Undaunted by Oxford's preference for tradition in fine dining as well as academia, the restaurant takes a boldly modern approach offering fresh, contemporary decor in blond wood & Mediterranean colours & a fashionably modish fusion of edible influences to match an extensive choice of mains, treking from Occident to Orient - chorizo sausages with minted new potatoes, souvlaki lamb kebabs in cool coriander cous cous, stir-fried Oriental vegetables with deep plum sauce - but comes home again with very English desserts of brandy snaps, Baileys chocolate mousse & a selection of colourful Brit cheeses. The hotel, which sits on the city's northern outskirts, boasts free parking.
