Set smack beside the small cobbled quayside & old cottages overlooking the harbour - what the name promises, the setting delivers. The 17th-century building comes with a surprisingly modish-look interior, the dining room’s neutral tones dotted with vibrant paintings, while white leather chairs match the linen-clad tables. Here Karen Farthing runs front of house with efficiency matched by an endearingly friendly, relaxed mood for a culinary high achiever. Ramon Farthing’s confident, complex, Michelin-star cooking puts a contemporary spin on to a classical French theme, his innovative, fixed-price repertoire driven by fresh seasonal ingredients, flavour & flawless combination, plus a passion for showy presentation. In line with the coastal location, fish plays its part, but you’re just as likely to find the likes of veal fillet medallions & crisp veal sweetbreads on the menu, perhaps served with braised cabbage, lyonnaise potatoes & creamed artichoke sauce. The extensive wine list is reasonably priced, given the 'rather upmarket labels on offer'.
