A relatively recent addition to out-of-town attractions, this informal restaurant & hotel gladdens the eye of real ale enthusiasts with its barrel of local ale & sends them prematurely dizzy with chalkboard menus & home-made food all around. Barnsley chops & special sausages & mash (pricey but tasty) are among the mainstays, & there is plenty of liver & bacon. Fish is the real highlight, with unusual offerings always available as well as the expected herring or mussels.
