Square Meal review of La Chouette:
One of the daftest restaurants in the land & one of the easiest to like. Jazz-loving, beer connoisseur Belgian chef/patron Frederic Desmette is the heart, soul & frequently front of house, as well as captain of the kitchen, at La Chouette (which is an owl, by the way). Cooking is modern European with a French foundation married to the Belgian penchant for the hale & hearty. M Desmette does not hold back on the calories & neither should you (not least with the brain-numbing Belgian beers). The set price lunch is a dirt cheap big treat.
