Occupying a small, converted shop in fashionable Didsbury, Greens is all about generosity, which shines through in everything from portion size to flavour, & ensures that this vegetarian restaurant’s appeal extends well beyond the veggie market. The tables may be close together & the noise levels loud, but don’t let that put you off – service is friendly & a no fuss, cafe-like atmosphere pervades. In fact, sixteen years down the line, its near-institutional status means the dining room is frequently packed, so booking is advisable. Chef-proprietor Simon Rimmer packs plenty of imagination into dishes that take much inspiration from Africa & Asia as well as the Mediterranean. Always beautifully presented, faves include the garlic & rosemary bread, mushroom strudel with beetroot & chips, vegetarian black pudding & every type of dessert cheesecake, including vanilla, & white chocolate. Greens is also popular as a Sunday brunch hangout.
