It's well worth navigating your way through Nottingham's fiendish one-way system to this tucked away cul-de-sac location. A recent refurbishment has rounded off the harder edges of this restaurant's contemporary dining room. While you'll still find lone businessmen from next-door Hart's Hotel tapping away on their laptops, the beige banquettes, booths & soft lighting mean it's an equally attractive proposition for young couples. The menu is designed to appeal to a wide customer base, offering everything from crispy duck dumplings with plum sauce to Parma ham & melon. Hand-dived scallops with cauliflower puree, smoked bacon & raisin dressing showed off the kitchen's skills to good effect, while a beautifully roasted turbot, dressed with salsify, baby leeks, trompette mushrooms & a stunning red wine sauce could have been straight from the pages of a coffee table cookbook. Owner Tim Hart brings a welcome note of eccentric charm to the well-drilled front of house team.
