Square Meal review of Northcote Manor:

Chef Nigel Haworth has won great acclaim for giving Lancastrian produce a good name with his updates on classic local recipes. Thus, a deeply modish sounding Bury black pudding with buttered trout (with mustard & nettle sauce) turns out to be a bona fide 18th-century dish, while locally farmed pork loin comes with trotters, forest mushrooms, puree potatoes & lemon verbena. But Haworth is not ashamed to serve an honest steak with thick-cut chips either, & if you’re looking for a great Sunday lunch then roast sirloin of Bowland beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast & puree potatoes, vegetables & gravy is at the heart of a great four-course deal (£30 plus coffee). There are other reasonably priced set menus during the week, & accommodation is much appreciated by those wishing to explore the upbeat international selection of wines.
