Square Meal review of Hambleton Hall:

The ‘fantastic location, perfect food, superb service’ continues to wow at this beautifully maintained country house hotel. In summer, drinks on the terrace overlooking Rutland Water set the scene for a cosseting experience, while in winter open fires & plump sofas make a perfect retreat. Aaron Patterson’s skilled kitchen turns complex ingredients into beautifully presented dishes of harmonious flavour. Luxuries abound, be it mosaic of chicken, foie gras and veal sweetbreads with hazelnuts and orange, or poached fillet of line- sea bass with tempura-fried langoustines. To finish, hot passion fruit souffle with passion fruit & banana sorbet is worth every penny of the hefty £15 price tag. Staff are gracious (as at these prices they should be) & the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed rather than formal.
