Lygon Arms
The Lygon Arms is the place to be on Saturday nights when the Great Hall dining room buzzes with a good mix of eager residents & well-heeled locals who flock here for the hearty food & discreet, well-paced service. Even on a quiet Sunday evening the dining room is relaxed & welcoming, with supremely comfortable chairs that encourage diners to linger. Dishes include terrine of duck rillette teamed with red wine shallot dressing & onion toast, ahead of roast loin of pork with creamed leeks, black pudding & Granny Smith tarte tatin, or, monkfish loin with a nage of fresh mussels, crayfish & saffron, perhaps. Inventive desserts to try, meanwhile, include honey & vanilla creme brulee with cardamom foam & white coffee ice-cream. Be sure to book ahead.
