There’s no resisting the charm of this Jacobean-style mansion, although the grand-sized rooms with acres of darkwood panelling dictate a very formal style of service. But posh weddings & blue-chip conferences like the space & the views, & well-heeled natives fill the restaurant for the likes of white onion veloute, rump of New Romney lamb with provencal garnish & papaya jus, & vanilla pannacotta with raspberries & homemade strawberry jus. Note the good value set lunch: £10/£15 for two/three courses.
