Square Meal review of The Atrium:

Sometimes the Atrium feels like the forgotten cousin of fine dining in Edinburgh. A benchmark for good food & chic surroundings since it opened in 1993, recent years have seen more media sexy establishments come (and sometimes go) leaving this old stager to quietly get on with its business. With recent refurbishment the dining space looks as striking as ever (low lit, signature tables made from old railway sleepers). The wine list is great, with everything available by the glass as long as you’re willing to deal with the consequent cost. A three course dinner could bring a carpaccio of pigeon & foie gras with pistachio purée & a complementary cherry dressing to start, straightforward saddle of Perthshire lamb with Lyonnaise potatoes, roasted fennel & parsnip as a main, then a neat apple tarte tatin with Calvados ice cream for dessert.
