Tables are highly prized at this cosy and quirky blue-fronted bistro run by chef/patron Adrian Oliver – so booking is highly recommended for dinner. Close to the harbour, Margot’s is also a popular spot for impromptu light lunches of, say, mussels cooked in cider with spring onions and cream or grilled St Anthony's goats' cheese with red onion, tomato and coriander salsa. In the evening, Cornish flavours continue to dominate the menu, which might offer smoked duck breast with watercress and orange salad followed by baked fillet of cod with anchovies, parsley and garlic. The sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and cream has a local following all of its own, as does the saffron-poached pear with jelly and clotted cream. There are some very quaffable sips by the glass and carafe on the tidy wine list.
