Eating and drinking is central to the Inn, providing locally sourced food, served simply. The Crown’s restaurant serves a Chop House style menu – a style of eating which once existed in most coaching inns around Britain. An institution dating back to the 16th Century. The Crown Chop House menu includes British classics, seasonal salads and dishes and a specialty of grilled meats which are cooked in a Josper Oven - an enclosed barbeque which is perfect for roasting and barbecuing and producing stunning flavours and aromas. The kitchen is under the charge of Head Chef David Hawkins previously Head Chef at The White Oak in Cookham where he was nominated in the top 30 new Gastro pubs 2010, and the Michelin red guide 2010 and 2011. Cooking simple, local, honest food, David’s style of cooking is perfectly suited to the The Crown’s Chop House philosophy.
