Cheltenham’s Prithvi Indian Restaurant, located on the Bath Road, is inspired by no less than Mother Earth – Prithvi being the ancient Sanskrit translation. The restaurant offer a refined and sophisticated approach to dining, sticking to a concept of understated elegance in every aspect, from food to service. Prithvi’s dining room sets the scene for a very special dining experience, the surroundings calm and understated, painted in cream, tables dressed in white and gleaming silver and glassware and with attractive artworks on the wall. Staff are equally well turned out, gliding from table to table as they serve steaming plates of freshly cooked food and quietly take orders, give menu advice and pour wine. Prithvi’s menu is much more than just simple Indian food. It’s prepared using fine, luxury ingredients with dishes cooked to order and though the basics are rooted in Indian tradition, the execution takes its inspiration from modern gourmet approaches
