Square Meal Review of The Rising Sun ?

The Rising Sun isn’t your average bucolic Dorset boozer with dark higgledy-piggledy rooms and winking candles; instead, it aims for light, modern styling mixed with a relaxed, grown-up vibe, fashionable tub chairs and sofas in the bar/lounge, and neat bare tables in the restaurant. The kitchen offers a roll call of crowd-pleasing Brit classics and brasserie dishes based on quality seasonal ingredients, with lots of tried-and-trusted ideas – think Honeybrook Farm sausages with bubble ‘n’ squeak and onion gravy or pan-fried sea bass fillets accompanied by wild mushroom dauphinoise, winter greens and tarragon pesto. The grill also delivers a popular range of burgers, as well as chateaubriand (for two). In fine weather, dine alfresco under a parasol; otherwise, sit in the back garden with a pint of well-kept ale or something from the carefully selected, globetrotting wine list.
