Sebastian and Lana Snow are no strangers to success, with Snow’s on the Green and The Swan at Southrop already under their belts, but in 2012 they bought their very own pub – a great-looking, Cotswold-stone hostelry with a suntrap beer garden out back. Flagstone floors, mismatched antique furniture, contemporary art and sparkly chandeliers provide a charming backdrop for a pint, but you’d be missing a treat if you didn’t try Sebastian’s ‘turf to table’ cooking. The main thrust is pub classics (potted shrimps, fish and chips, etc), but there are some delicious reminders of Sebastian’s Italian upbringing too – witness an excellent starter of linguine with crab, chilli, garlic and parsley, or a fricassee of rabbit with girolles, fava beans, baby leeks and tagliolini. To finish, keep it seasonal with a perfectly executed summer pudding and custard. There’s a decent selection of international wines too.
